Some lakes have multi-year Trend Analyses available. All data used for these Trend Analyses are normalized to display "summer" values only. So, data collected before May 15 and after September 15 are not included in the multi-year graphs. This helps reduce inequities introduced by an early sampling season in one year versus a late start in another. In effect, it allows us to confidently compare (within a lake) the data of one year to the data of another.
These data are often depicted using box plots. Box Plot help.
We frequently use "Julian Day" in our analyses. Each day, starting with January 1, gets its own "Julian Day". So January 1 is Julian Day number one. February 1 is Julian Day number 32. Data are corrected for leap years. Here is a handy Julian Day Calendar.
