Kick-off Event 2/27/2010

Swarmers,
Our celebration party and kickoff was a great success. Look
for pictures on the website as soon as Kevin gets them over to Howard.
As is our custom we presented kayakswarm RIVER STEWARD AWARDS this year
to the following individuals. Please recognize them.
Bernie Arnold - For all he and other ST211 folks do to assist our
efforts, and for their efforts on the rivers. They collected
over 1200 tires the weekend of the party.
Skip Hyack - Skip with Greens Canoe has supported us the past 2 years
with logistics on the difficult upper sections. And coordinates our
efforts with other outfitters and landowners as we paddle along.
Howare Web & Tony Thorpe - Tony Thorpe with LMVP (Lake of
Missouri Volunteer Program) thought all our river pictures and data
needed to be shared. So he provided web space for us, and pointed
Howard at the idea. Howard took the concept to whole new
levels linking our pictures and date to google earth. The web site says

Kevin Wright (Elmo) - Has developed music dvds of our pictures that our
awesome, as well as providing logos, banner for everyone to sign, and
other support.
In 2009 28 peopler participated in one of our 6 paddles on the Huzzah
and Courtois Rivers. MAGELLAN AWARDS for paddling the entire
river were presented to Keith Bobb, Kevin Wright, Bernie
Arnold, and Jim Darlington for paddling all of the Courtois. And to
Dianne Darlington, Jim Darlington, and Bernie Arnold for paddling the
entire Huzzah
We also recognized our valued tippers, carpers, and polar bear
initiates with membership cards including local emergency numbers on
the back. Our polar bear initiates also received a
complementary toe tag.
Special thanks to Barb Bullock for hosting the event, and to Mike Roach
for his ongoing support this time prviding an attractive banner and
inflatable boat as a door prize. Also thanks to Darlene Hawn
and kayakswarm member and MDC employee for her continued support and
connectivitiy to other oganizations on the rivers.
