Lake Wappapello is an 8,400 acre reservoir located in Wayne County, with the southern arms reaching into Butler County. Construction of this lake was completed in 1941. 71% of Lake Wappapello’s large, 831,000 acre watershed is forested and 21% is covered by grassland. This is a shallow lake for its size, with a mean depth of only 10 feet.
