9:30 - 10:00 Registration
10:00 - 11:00 Review of 2007 LMVP Data
We'll discuss how to read the data report, changes from previous reports (new graphs and charts), ecoregional trends, and some specific lake information (especially the larger lakes -Table Rock, Lake of the Ozarks, etc.). Dan Obrecht and Tony Thorpe
11:00 - 11:30 Nutrient Criteria Development
Dan and Tony will describe how we are approaching nutrient criteria, how the LMVP data are important, the impact on Missouri and the LMVP in the future.
11:30 - 12:00 Aquatic Plants

12:00 - 1:00 Eat some lunch, share tips, tell stories
During this time we'll talk and share our sampling tips, as well as share stories designed to make people laugh milk out of their noses. This will be very informal and designed to get people talking. Everyone, mediated loosely by us.
1:00 - 1:30 Invading Creatures
Tim Banek from the Missouri Department of Conservation will discuss invasive organisms. The focus will be on zebra mussels, for obvious reasons, but he will also discuss other critters and perhaps even plants. MDC
1:30 - 2:00 Relationships Between Water Quality and Fisheries
Paul Michaletz from the Missouri Department of Conservation will talk about the impact of water quality on the fishery and the impact of the fishery on water quality. Possibilities include bioturbation and top down effects of fish on algae.
2:00 - 2:15 Break
2:15 - 3:00 Land Use/Impacts of Development
Jason Hubbart, MU hydrologist, will talk about the impacts of development on water quality. What effects do different land uses have on water quality and how does human activity affect the delivery of water to streams.
3:00 - 3:20 Reservoir Hydrology
How does water behave within the lake. What are the effects of the lake itself on water quality. Lake size, depth, size of watershed, etc. - Dan Obrecht
3:20 - 3:35 Break
3:35 - 4:00 Weatherby Lake
Armand Matthews has been sampling Weatherby Lake for 14 years. He has collected additional data and will discuss the long-term effects of development and rainfall on Weatherby Lake water quality.
4:00 - 4:25 Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance (LOWA)
Donna Swall, Executive Director of the Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance will talk about how that group was formed, what they've been doing and where they're going.
4:25 - 5:00 The Future of LMVP
What should the LMVP focus on in the future? Should we change things, stay the same? Thanks to nutrient criteria, our current model will be very important, but many volunteers are hungry for more. Do we change to accommodate, and risk losing our focus? Do we stay the same and risk under-motivating committed volunteers? Group discussion.
6:00 - 9:00 Dinner at the Winery
We'll meet at the Summit Lake Winery for the reception at 6 or so. We have the room until 9:00 if we want it.
2008 LMVP Volunteer Appreciation Wrap Up
MU Limnologist, Dr. Jack Jones, will speak during dessert.
